Inspired by Home
The heart of our food comes from home, from the kitchen of our grandmother, Maria. She embraced the fresh ingredients, rich flavors, and vibrant colors of Central Mexico, especially the bright, bold cuisine of Hidalgo that makes every bite feel like a memory.
Our Story
Maria Bonita was founded in 2009 with a dream that started around the table: sharing authentic Mexican flavors with the community we love.
What began as a family vision quickly grew into something bigger, not just because of the food, but because of the people behind it. Maria Bonita was built by Miguel and Miriam Lopez, fueled by big dreams for their family, and grounded in the belief that food has the power to bring people together.
In 2016, we experienced a heartbreaking loss when our founder, Miguel Lopez, passed away. But even through grief, we carried forward what he started, because Maria Bonita was never just a business. It was a legacy.
Although our brick-and-mortar restaurant closed in 2018, our story didn’t end there. We kept going — and today, Maria Bonita continues to serve Omaha through our food trucks and catering, bringing the same heart, flavor, and tradition to events across the city.
For over 10 years, we’ve been honored to cater your special moments, from family celebrations to major corporate events, and we’re proud to be one of Omaha’s premier catering teams for Mexican cuisine.
Thank you, Omaha, for supporting our family through every season. We’re still here and we’re excited for the years ahead.
